Fans of Liam Payne and Tommy Fury were left confused after the pair teased a potential boxing match on social media. However, it was soon revealed that the whole thing was just a promotional stunt for this year’s Soccer Aid charity football match. The event will take place on June 11th at Old Trafford Stadium, with Liam set to play for England and Tommy signed up to play for the Rest of the World team.
This will be Tommy’s first time playing in the charity football match, while Liam has participated before. Other celebrities and former players set to participate in the event include Paddy McGuinness, Tom Grennan, Joel Corry, Chunkz, Usain Bolt, Maisie Adam, and Mo Gilligan.
Soccer Aid has been held annually since 2006 and raises money for UNICEF to help children around the world. The event has raised over £47 million so far, and this year’s match is expected to be another successful fundraiser.
Fans of Liam and Tommy can rest easy knowing that the two won’t be duking it out in the boxing ring, but they can look forward to seeing them compete on the football field for a good cause.
